Charles Johnson

I, Charles R. Johnson reside in Boston, Massachusetts. I attended Tuskegee University, Boston State College and received my degree in English. I am a licensed electrician and an ASE certified master automotive technician. I attended Northeastern University as I started my teaching career. I taught early education in the private sector and later had the pleasure of teaching English in the very same schools I attended growing up. When Boston opened a new vocational school, I successfully applied and taught automotive technology for thirty years.

During my career I was a building representative. My peers suggested I run for the Boston Teachers Union executive board. I followed their advice and spent most of my working career on that board. I ran and held the secretary-treasurer’s office position for several years before retiring. During my tenure as secretary-treasurer, I was a trustee and the chairperson of our Boston Teachers Union Health and Welfare’s, Pre-paid Legal Fund. Presently, I am a trustee and chair of the fund. I am a past board member of GLSA.I am presently on the board of the National Youth Development Council. This council allows me to
continue working for students and with professionals that support educational excellence. I am stillactively operating C. R. Johnson Electric Company.

Our Board of Directors is as diverse as our membership and represents every aspect of the legal services plan industry. Each member of our Board is committed to furthering GLSA’s goals of increasing access to justice. Interested in running for a position on the Board?
